In Our Family

by Marina, James and Isabel

“He knows everything, He already knows what is going to happen and it will be as He wills.”

It is difficult to choose only one memory with Father Henry, because even in pain, in anguish and in desolation, there were many pleasant moments.

It was he who suggested that our marriage be celebrated on the nineteenth of March, what a marvel! We are very grateful since now our home is consecrated to the patriarch Saint Joseph. As that date coincided with the beginning of the lockdown, we were very nervous and worried, but the day before the wedding, after confession, Father told us: “You only know one part of God’s plan, but He knows everything, He already knows what is going to happen and it will be as He wills.”

These very encouraging words were the impulse we needed to dispel our fears, not only at that moment, but also to keep them in mind throughout our life.

On one occasion, during the homily, he reminded the faithful of the correct and respectful way to receive the Holy Eucharist. We rarely saw him get angry, but at that moment he was truly indignant. He said that in the line he saw people smiling, waving with their hand and even talking after receiving Communion. I believe that it was so much the love and zeal that he felt for Jesus in the Eucharist that he could not avoid his anger when observing these behaviors.

We often think that he must be very happy to see how the parish grows in fervor. Surely he is interceding for all the faithful and the community. We are very fortunate to have had Father Henry as a priest and a friend. He listened to us, encouraged us, accompanied us and taught us great things for our spiritual life.
